WHAT is Guns to Gardens?

Guns to Gardens (G2G) is a nationwide program that gives individuals a safe, effective, and efficient means to safely recycle unwanted firearms.

The program includes a defined process for inspection of a firearm (to ensure it’s not loaded), dismantling the firearm, cutting up the firearm’s metal operating components–Which is done to the guidelines from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms–then melting down the metal elements and transforming the melted metal elements into life-affirming garden tools, jewelry, and works of art.

G2G offers a practical solution for the safe recycling and repurposing of unwanted firearms, along with pastoral guidance and direction that is prophetic, transformational (inner & outer), and non-oppositional.

Who surrenders a gun at a “Safe Recycling” event?

Some of the reasons we heard from those who brought their guns to our Safe Recycling Event were:
I inherited the gun and never wanted to own it.
I am worried a child will find it and use it.
I don’t like guns and don’t want it to fall in the wrong hands.
I don’t want it in the house.
One of our G2G volunteers working a chop saw that’s used to dismantle a gun into raw metal that will be transformed into garden tools, jewelry, or pieces of art.
Another G2G volunteer working at a chop saw under the watchful eye of one of our partners from RAWTools South that provided us with all the equipment to run the event.
